CRALEY Fibre Home-Drop

CRALEY Fibre™ Home-Drop kits use the property’s
pre-existing water supply pipe as a conduit for the simple and direct deployment of a 4 fibre unit (4FU) drop cable.

The water pipe has a direct and un-interrupted route from the property boundary to the premises, making it ideal to use as a conduit for installing CRALEY's patented
Home-Drop solution.

Often, the layout of every property is very different, creating an additional challenge for fibre broadband providers in that each property becomes a separate project in itself.

One of the key benefits of the CRALEY Fibre Home-Drop kit is that each installation is the same, regardless of the layout of the property or what obstacles there may be if traditional techniques were used; ornate driveways, other utility services, tree roots etc. This makes the Home-Drop process repeatable and ensuring a faster, less disruptive and more cost-effective connection (and without the risk of striking other services).

Another key benefit is the longer the connection distance, the more cost-effective a CRALEY Fibre Home-Drop becomes, compared to using traditional techniques. The per metre cost and time taken of traditional techniques increases linearly with distance, whereas with CRALEY's Home-Drop kit, the cost of extra distance is relatively insignificant.

CRALEY Fibre™ Home-Drop kits are a trenchless method that minimises the challenges experienced with traditional, civils-based installation techniques.

The trenchless technique

There are many challenges faced when using traditional home-drop installation techniques
and the CRALEY M-series avoids them all.

  • Decorative paving

  • Coloured tarmac

  • Landscaped gardens

  • Long concrete driveways

  • Resin driveways

  • Steps and tiers

  • Mature tree roots

  • Water features

  • Raised beds

  • Tiered ground

  • Mature shrubs and hedges

  • Other utility connections

CRALEY Home-Drop customer / contractor benefits

  • Quick trenchless installation

  • More cost effective over longer distances

  • Rapid installation with minimal work-force

  • Easement and right-of-way issues are avoided

  • Minimal disruption to the property owner

  • No heavy machinery required

  • Avoids obstructions both above and below ground

  • No surface scarring

CRALEY Home-Drop install kit consists of the following:

  • 2 x Final fittings (3/4" M-Series in image)

  • 2 x Water blocker connectors

  • 2 x Caution cards & cable ties

  • 2 x Messenger Pipe supports

A full installation requires training by a qualified technician and correctly sized pipe saddles for each fitting. For further information please contact the sales office or complete the contact us form.

P2P Connections with CRALEY Fibre

Using CRALEY Fibre™ for fibre optic deployment makes perfect sense, as the infrastructure is already there. This existing infrastructure provides a ready-made conduit in which a fibre cable can be installed at a faster and more cost-effective way, when compared to traditional methodologies.

Using CRALEY Fibre™ consistently provides:

  • A faster deployment method

  • Reduced civil works

  • Less neighbourhood disruption

  • Less traffic management

  • Cost reductions

  • Minimal or no requirement for wayleaves

One of the key design concepts with CRALEY Fibre™ is the hollow Messenger Pipe™, which is a deliberate engineering consideration, and make the finished installation fully future-proofed against changing fibre technology and/or fibre count requirements. Once the Messenger Pipe™ installation has been completed, the fibre cable can be inserted using standard
fibre-blowing techniques, installing just as many fibres as is required at that point. Should the requirement change, or fibre cable technology has moved on, the cable can simply be removed and a new cable blown-in at any time.

Benefits Overview

CRALEY Fibre™ is suitable for use on any pipeline size or material.

1.

All 'wet-parts' are water industry approved and certified safe to use on potable water networks by WRAS and NSF, plus they have Reg31 & Reg 33 approval in the UK.

2.

CRALEY Fibre™  fittings interface with industry standard pipe saddles, bosses or flange fittings.

3.

CRALEY Fibre™ facilitates the creation of a future-proofed SMART Pipeline, providing not only communication links, but also monitoring and third-party intrusion capabilities.

4.

CRALEY Fibre™ is particularly suitable for extra-urban and rural fibre deployment; areas where using traditional techniques are not always commercially viable.

5.

Benefits by Sector

Using CRALEY Fibre™ provides the opportunity for pipeline owners to create mutually beneficial collaborations  with ISPs, telecommunication companies, municipalities and/or communities to increase fibre penetration and increase 'social inclusion'.
